PM02: Homeopathy
This video investigates the claims of efficacy of homeopathy. For further information on Homeopathy see the references section at the bottom of this video description. I will be putting further information on my website http://jasonlpsmith.googlepages.com/
Anyone is welcome to post comments, if you make interesting claims, please provide detailed reference for your claims so others can look it up. (Anyone who posts lots of comments for the purpose of pushing all other comments off the front page will be banned.)
The 3D animation was done in Blender, a brilliant open source 3D animation program. I learnt how to model the Earth from http://chamberlinproductions.110mb.com/mappedearth.html
The numbers in the bottom left of the video are for references if you want to look into the information for yourself (which I do recommend).

So, if I said:
“.” …
So, if I said:
“.”
Would homeopaths consider that a powerful argument?
“should try to …
“should try to think Why?” This has been done over and over. When there are both + & – on an scientific issue this is done. For repeat studies no matter the previous outcome methodology, bias, blinding, small sample size etc. are looked at. That is why it has been hard to get repeat positives. Changes are made looking at the weak points of previous studies no matter the outcome. That’s why the best explanation is homeopathy = placebo. All information + & – is used.
homeopahy = placebo …
homeopahy = placebo is dogmatic. yes, many study of homeopathy can’t reapt 100% every time. people should try to think why? but not to ignore the “sometimes” postive part and just say it is placeble.
It is like 300 years ago, people ,Newton, thought light is a kind of particle. But it can’t explain why we can see rainbow because of refraction. 100 years later, people understand light is both wave and particle. Hoemopath is not fictitious. there is something we don’t understand in it.
You’re right. …
You’re right. Being able to repeat a positive outcome is where homeopathy has always failed. False positives have been a major problem is drug research.
The positive meta analysis studies have never been very supportive. The conclusions note that they best studies are negative, publication bias problems, poor design and new studies need to be of high quality and carefully designed. Contrast that with the numerous negative ones which clearly state homeopathy = placebo.
still not really, …
still not really, many high quality published , randomized, double blind, meta analysis papers show homeopathy ’s postive effective
so that is the …
so that is the problem of your country. no regulation for homeopathy. It is always a good thing to let phisicians prescribe homeoathic medicine.
Jason you are …
Jason you are correct that there have been positive and negative studies published. When you look at the quality, the higher the quality of the study the more likely homeopathy = placebo. This is not the relationship that you should see if homeopathy has merit. Your idea of treating an invisible force with imaginary treatments makes sense–likes treats likes or the law of similars. I wish I could have made that one up, but it’s been around for hundreds of years.
Homeopaths dont …
Homeopaths dont require any training in medicine or physiology. I could set up my own homeopathic centre tomorrow with absolutely no medical background and start administering treatment to the sick who have fallen on the wrong side of science.
So how exactly would you tell apart a good homeopath from a bad one?
Humans dont really …
Humans dont really have souls, its just a fairy tale people tell to each other to help take away their fear of death.
There is just simply NO evidence for souls outside of nonsense literature and psychic con artists.
Even if the soul was real, there is still no evidence homeopathy has any curative ability since it continuously fails in large sample tests to have any discernible effects.
Think a little harder and read a little more.
“A glad heart…..” …
“A glad heart…..” The vital force? Emotional stress good or bad has an effect. This isn’t homeopathy, but the whole area of psychosomatics and placebo effect and so on is so fascinating.
moreover, over 100 …
moreover, over 100 published medical journals such as Lancet, BMJ, Thorax…have talked about the postive efection of homeoathy. my persoal opinion is pepple need to figure out not all the diseases are problem of body. Many diseases is wrong about “vital force”. We can’t see vital force directly. That is why we misunderstand disease. And only treat the body. Once again, if the software of your computer has problem. It won’t work if you only fix CPU or any other hardware.
not realy, vital …
not realy, vital force can act on body. Therefore, we can see the effection of homeopathy. Have you ever heard about “A glad heart makes a healthy body” glad hert is a kind of vital force.
So, homeopathy is …
So, homeopathy is not medicine that can be tested it is supernatural healing. A good start then would be to prove the existence of the vital force. A system based on the vital force should first establish its existence. You have the hypothesis of the vital force. Find testable evidence that supports it. When you get that, you have a good starting point. Next you need to show that homeopathy has some effect on the vital force. Good luck.
great video to …
great video to explain material
but no any relationship with homeopathy
because homeopathy is not about material.
It is about “soul”
homeopathy works on human’s soul
Hanamane called it as vital force.
It is similar with your computer’s software, control system, is not material.
It is no wehght. But without it, this computer can’t work.

I thought you were yoking, when you said, ”next she…Hawking…validate homeopathy”.
The scientific …
The scientific method is a self-correcting system used to investigate various phenomena. Pseudoscience is not self-correcting. It makes sense to me to look at properly applied science to find answers on the efficacy of homeopathy. See the wikipedia entry on pseudoscience for a better explanation.
Great facts! When …
Great facts! When is your factual video coming out on how the earth is flat. I would go study with a good homeopath before you post this stuff. You dont know what youre talking about.
Spectacular job. …
Spectacular job. Pseudoscience can be very annoying, however this video properly debunks one portion thereof.
That was great.. …
That was great.. Wow I heard the dilution effects being compared with 1 drop in all the world’s oceans, but 1 drop in a water sphere with a 48 ly diameter.. wow.. ! There’s several people I know who should see this video. Great job – and the southpark characters were great to spice it up a bit.
Awsome vid, really …
Awsome vid, really sammuraises homeopathy.
and by sammuraising i mean distroying
thanks for all the source info aswell, im gna do a presentation about this at my university.
Already got some reactions from people in my class who know im gna do it about homeopathy and had some nice discussions.
i like it how it doesnt make sense at all, easy to debunk.
wonderful video! …
wonderful video! thank you
What is more …
What is more disturbing is that Dr. Werner obviously couldn’t come up with this on her own. Someone more educated in science who should know better has put these ideas into her head. It might be that she has been taking drinks of water with the knowledge imprinted in it. The water’s memory has washed off on her brain.
That is great that …
That is great that people are doing research. I must point out that this is a small trial (15 patients), there were no control patients, and it was not a double blind trial. This sort of research would require larger follow up studies.
If it worked that would be great, it could help glioma patients. However homeopathy has not show efficacy with large scale, double-blind placebo controlled trials. If it did, it would no longer be CAM, it would just be conventional medicine.
